Statement of Faith

The following verses are specific promises that God has given to Promise Church.

Pray in unity and faith believing that every word that God has spoken will be fulfilled.

"We are rescued to rescue, We are restored to restore, We have been built up to rebuild, We are released to release others."
We believe the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, to be the word of God. We believe that the Bible had its origin in God who, through the Holy Spirit inspired men to speak and write (Timothy 3:16,17; 2 Peter 1:20,21). It is from these scriptures that we determine what we believe and practice (1 Corinthians 2:13; Hebrews 4:12).
We believe in the Eternal Godhead who has revealed Himself as one God existing in three persons: Father (Ephesians 4:6), Son (Hebrews 1:8) and Holy Spirit (John 14:26); distinguishable but indivisible (Matthew 3:16,17; 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14).
We believe God, through Jesus, is the creator of all things and nothing exists that He did not create. (Genesis 1:1-2:3; John 1:1-5 Colossians 1:16.)
We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 2:35), the Savior of all who believe (1 Timothy 4:10). We believe He was conceived of the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:34,35) and born of the virgin Mary (Luke 2:6,7), fully God and fully man (John 1:1,14,18; Philippines 2:5-11). We believe Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again the third day, and personally appeared to His disciples (1 Corinthians 15:1-8). We believe in the bodily ascension of Jesus (Acts 1:9) and his exaltation to the right hand of the Father in heaven (Ephesians 1:20), and His personal, physical coming again the second time for all those who love His appearing (John 14:3; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 2 Timothy 4:8).
We believe the Holy Spirit was sent to the Church by the Lord Jesus Christ upon His ascension (Acts 2:33). His mission in the world is to convince of sin, the need of righteousness and of certain judgement (John 16:7-11). His mission to the Church is to lead believers into all truth (John 16:13) and to empower them for holy living and evangelism (Mark 16:15-18; Acts 1:8).
We believe mankind was created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26,27) and because of Adam’s disobedience (Genesis 3:17) sin and death passed to all (Romans 5:12). We believe man was given dominion over the earth (Genesis 1:28) but when Adam disobeyed the earth came under a curse (Genesis 3:17,18).
We believe that the death of Jesus on the cross is the only sufficient work by which we obtain remission of sins (Hebrews 9:12,22). This salvation is effective entirely by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8,9).
We believe everyone upon receiving Christ as Savior should be baptized by immersion in water in the name of the Eternal Godhead (the Lord Jesus Christ, Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38,39) in order to fulfill the command of Christ.
We believe every believer should expect to be baptized in the Holy Spirit, with the manifestation of speaking in other tongues, as an experience subsequent to salvation and as a distinct aspect of the Christian’s foundational experience (Acts 2:1-4,37-39; 8:14,17; 10:44-48; 19:1-6). As a result of this infilling, every believer should demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-24) and operate the gifts of the Spirit (Romans 12:6-8; 1 Corinthians 12:7-11) through the power of the Spirit.
We believe the Spirit-filled life results in a life of holiness which is demonstrated by separation from the world’s standards and increasing dedication in reverence for God as an expression of the Christian faith (John 17:15-19; Ephesians 5:18; 2 Corinthians 6:14; 7:1).
We believe the Church is the bride and body of Christ (Romans 12:5; Ephesians 1:22,23; 5:25-32), universal in scope and unity (Matthew 16:18) but is manifested and governed in local institutions (Matthew 18:17: Hebrews 13:17,24). Every believer should become a vital part of a local church (Romans 12:4,5; Hebrews 10:24,25).
We believe the Table of the Lord, commonly called Communion or the Lord’s Supper, should be observed reverently in the fear of the Lord but the decision to partake is determined by the individual believer (1 Corinthians 11:23-32).
We believe that marriage is a lifelong covenant made between one man and one woman who are believers in Christ, and that the institution of marriage is symbolic of Christ’s love for the Church. We believe that sexual relations outside of marriage - including adultery, fornication and homosexuality - are sinful (Matthew 5:31,32; Romans 1:24-27; Ephesians 5:3, 22-33; Galatians 5:19).
We believe in the sanctity of human life and are opposed to euthanasia, physician-assisted suicide, and abortions for the purpose of birth control. (Exodus 20:13; Jeremiah 1:5; Psalm 139:13-16).
We believe in the reality and personality of Satan and the eternal judgment of Satan and his angels (Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:10-15).
We believe in eternal life with God for believers (John 5:24; 3:16) and eternal separation from God for unbelievers (Mark 9:43-48; 2 Thessalonians 1:9; Revelation 20:10-15).
